Not having played the previous games in the Payday franchise you would think that I am the perfect target market for the third instalment in the series that just dropped this week.
Unfortunately I feel having no knowledge of the Payday universe actually has me at a massive disadvantage when it comes to this game.
Who are these people? What are their motivations? Why did I get stuck the with the ‘Murica mask when I’m English and how the heck can I change that?
None of these questions are answered anywhere as far as I can tell.
Payday 3 is an obvious sequel to Payday 2 (duh) but Payday 2 came out TEN YEARS AGO and who in the heck can remember that far back?
In this video I take a look at the overall gameplay (sucks on PC if you’re using a controller) issues you might face (server lag, bad UI, not knowing what the heck is going on & more) and offer up a few thoughts and suggestions on how things could be improved – and it wouldn’t take a lot.
One thing I didn’t mention in my video is that the graphics look like it’s a re-rendered game from 10 years ago rather than state-of-the-art modern graphics that will benefit from ray tracing, DLSS and all that jazz – let me know what you think in the comments.
Considering this game has been (technically) 10 years in the making I can understand why fans of the franchise are more than disappointed and that, coupled with the need to be online and the server issues since launch – well, let’s say it’s not given the best experience to players.
